Immersive Reality is Closing

We will be closing the Immersive Reality Grid on April 30, 2018.

This is partly due to lack of interest, even with our free parcel offering,
but the main reason is the new European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

It is our opinion that Opensimulator as currently offered, especially the currency module, is not secure enough to meet the requirements of the new regulations. We do not have time to develop new code to meet those requirements.

Although some have suggested configuring a firewall to block known European IP addresses, that would be a lot of work and we feel that it's just better to close down the whole grid before the regulations go into effect.

At this time there are no paid accounts on the system. We will notifiying via Email users with grandfathered free private regions (there are only a couple) that we are closing the grid and will offer a .OAR backup file of their build, should they wish to import it to another grid.

Needless to say, full region sales have been suspended as well as buying IR$ via Podex. The Podex terminals have been removed from in-world.

Everyone may still use the grid, including the free parcels until we turn it off, but please be aware that at that time, the database will be erased in order to comply with the GDPR "Forget me" rule.

Finally, even though Immersive Reality will be no more, I, Tom Wyoming, will still maintain a presence in OpenSimulator at the Boom Town 2 region on the OS Grid.
